- Preparation Ideas: Asparagus is sweetest when used freshly cut. Wash asparagus and cut into 1″ pieces. Heat oil in a frying pan. When the oil is hot, add asparagus pieces and seasonings to the pan. Cover the pan and constantly shake the pan on the burner for approximately 5 minutes. Asparagus is done when it has a crisp tender texture. Serve immediately.
Expect a light crop in the second year, a full crop in the third year. Cultivate often. Harvest, when stems reach 20cm (8″) and buds at the tips, are still tightly compressed.
