  • Plant Type: Vegetable
  • Botanical Name: Asparagus officinalis
  • Plant Lifecycle: Perennial (returns every year)
  • Water Needs: Average 2.5 to 5 cm (1 to 2″) of water per week during its first two growing seasons. 2.5 cm (1″) per week thereafter.
  • Flavor: Tender and tasty spears
  • Preparation Ideas: Asparagus is sweetest when used freshly cut. Wash asparagus and cut into 1″ pieces. Heat oil in a frying pan. When the oil is hot, add asparagus pieces and seasonings to the pan. Cover the pan and constantly shake the pan on the burner for approximately 5 minutes. Asparagus is done when it has a crisp tender texture. Serve immediately.

  • Location: Full Sun
  • Planting Depth: 1.3 cm (1/2″)
  • Plant Spacing: 45 cm (18″)
  • Row Spacing: 120 cm (48″)
